The Cultural Trust wished to demonstrate their commitment to the Pittsburgh Cultural District by relocating their corporate offices to the Penn-Liberty Historic District. This multiphase project began with the initial work in 2003 with only 801 and 803 Liberty. The buildings were interconnected, stabilized and remodeled to fit the office needs of the Trust. The Trust eventually obtained 805 and 807 which linked to 809 Liberty; The Harris Theater. These 5 buildings are now linked providing not only the corporate offices of the Trust but their new educational component as well. The project is LEED registered. The buildings are truly mixed use with retail, restaurant, bakery, offices, classrooms, performance space, and a 200 Seat Black Box theater. The work entailed stabilizing these mid to late 19th century buildings structurally and introducing 21st century mechanical, power and data systems. The project is capped by a large meeting/performance/education space on the top floor that features an exposed heavy timber roof structure. Architect: Thomas R. Harley Architects, LLC
