The former Fessler Knitting Mill was converted to 20 units of senior housing, offices and support space, making the building’s use more compatible with the surrounding single family residential neighborhood. The apartments have high ceilings and large windows with sun shades. A Community Room addition was constructed on the second floor with an outdoor terrace. A clerestory window was added to the core of the nearly square building to bring daylight to the common spaces and highlight a grand stair near the elevator lobby. The local Library will be a commercial tenant. The project was funded by PHFA PennHOMES and LIHTC.
