The second phase of The Homes at Thackston Park created 50 additional family townhouses which relate to the surroundings in urban York, as well as create its own neighborhood with internal amenities and identity.  The proposed development is on the site where the first HUD property constructed in the City of York has outlived its useful life. This replacement development is a chance to create new marketable and energy efficient affordable housing to meet the large demand for workforce housing.  There are many walkable community amenities and services. The proposed 50 spacious townhomes will include a range of 1 bedroom through 5 bedroom apartments to accommodate small as well as multigenerational families.  All units have individual washers and dryers and ample inside and outside storage.  Other amenities include a Community Building with 750sf community room shared with Phase I and a new Management Office on the new site to integrate the 2 phases and encourage interactions.  The layout of the plan is based on Traditional Neighborhood Design principles by being pedestrian friendly, matching existing neighborhood patterns, integrating existing recreational spaces and ultimately creating a neighborhood.  The new community is adjacent to a City Park along Codorus Creek with large trees and access to a public playground.  The project is certified to the 2015 Enterprise Green Communities program.  Project financing provided by PHFA PennHOMES and LIHTC.
