This three-story building located in Frackville on the site previously occupied by St. Joseph’s church, is newly developed into 30 units of affordable elderly housing. Located in the heart of Frackville just two blocks from their central business district, the neighborhood surrounding Frackville Flats includes single family residences, churches, and restaurants all within a pedestrian-friendly walking distance. The focus of the design is to be integrated with the neighborhood achieved by a porch for each unit extending beyond the living space and distinctive features of the local architectural style including steep gabled roofs. On the second and third floors, amenities including a community room, activity room, a puzzle/sitting room, and a fitness room are all provided to tenants. This project is certified to 2015 Enterprise Green Communities and DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes standards. The project was funded by PHFA PennHomes and LIHTC.
