This project started as an emergency stabilization project when it was determined that non-structural elements were bearing weight for the first time in a hundred years. It was discovered that a bottom cord of a 60’ long wood truss had cracked. We quickly moved in steel beams and provided a steel scaffold to shore up the tower.

Over the years the Tower had tilted out of vertical and twisted out of square, this failure was documented in the early 1930’s. We proceeded to jack the tower off of the scaffold back to vertical, then untwist it to stabilize it in place. We also installed a copper coated tern roof overlaid with gold leaf, reactivated the county clock bell, installed an 18’ flagpole and provided night lighting. This renovation was so successful that FCFC made the tower their corporate symbol. Architect: Thomas R. Harley Architects, LLC
