The project site is a former elementary school with surrounding mixed residential, multi-family and commercial uses. This 3-story building has 42 senior apartments with age in place features. The exterior details – dormers, brick and trim- relate to the industrial scale and rhythm of the community. The seniors benefit from the downtown location with services, grocery stores, shopping, churches and restaurants nearby. The large community room has a fireplace, large industrial windows and multiple gathering areas. The open lobby has a beverage center and cozy seating areas. Other community spaces include a dog wash area, central laundry, fitness room and classroom with full A/V, computer access and projection screen. The building will be certified to 2020 Enterprise Green Communities and the DOE Zero Energy Ready Homes. Project is funded through LIHTC/PennHOMES.
