UpStreet Architects, Inc. specializes in affordable housing, designing projects to provide services and amenities, create a sense of community, utilize sustainable design practices, be efficient to operate and maintain, and of course, to be marketable.
We are expert in the areas of multi-family, elderly and special needs
housing. Design and construction services have involved interfacing with
financing agencies such as PHFA, DCED, HUD, FHLB, USDA FmHA, and local housing
authorities. We are familiar with the requirements of the typical financing
agencies and have worked hard to establish a cooperative and responsive reputation
with their technical service departments.
In 2002, we were the proud recipients of the first ever Excellence in Housing Award
presented by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. This is awarded to the firm that
demonstrates a commitment to affordable, safe and decent housing in Pennsylvania.
Since 2001 our firm, in conjunction with Thomas R. Harley, Architects,
has taken the natural step toward community development planning and building.
Involving Traditional Neighborhood Design principals, Green Building techniques,
and historic rehabilitation, we have worked with developers and community leaders
to transform multiple blocks in small towns such as St. Mary's, Meadville
and Warren, PA, from underutilized lots to vibrant living and working environments.
The opportunity to impact whole communities through a cohesive plan which combines
quality affordable housing, provisions for parking, state of the art commercial
space, historic rehabilitation and urban landscaping is the ultimate culmination
of our experience and interests.
We have established a consistent pattern of successful management of projects requiring
multi-disciplined teams of professionals. Many of the projects we complete have several
phases and varying requirements. The majority of our clients represent long term relationships,
repeat clients an open ended agreements.
